Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are caused by infections passed during vaginal, oral, or anal sex. Many infections have no visible symptoms, making regular testing essential. More than half of all people will acquire at least one STI at some point in their life. Getting tested at least once per year — and practicing safer sex — significantly reduces your risk and that of your partners.

Infections We Test For
Our laboratory tests for all major sexually transmitted infections using molecular (real-time PCR) methods.
Bacterial
Chlamydia
One of the most common STIs worldwide. Up to 80% of infected women have no symptoms — the “silent epidemic” — yet it can still damage the reproductive system.
Bacterial
Gonorrhea
Often found together with chlamydia. Most women have no symptoms or mild ones mistaken for a bladder or vaginal infection.
Bacterial
Mycoplasma Genitalium
A small bacterium that causes urethritis and cervicitis. It cannot be detected by regular culture, so PCR testing is needed.
Parasitic
Trichomonas Vaginalis
The most common curable STD, caused by a parasite. Only about 30% of infected people develop symptoms.
Herpes I & II
HSV-1 (usually cold sores) and HSV-2 (most genital herpes) stay in the body for life. Many people have no or very mild symptoms.
Bacterial
Ureaplasma
Found in about 70% of sexually active adults and usually harmless, but linked to urethritis and reduced fertility. Species can only be told apart by PCR.
Bacterial
Syphilis
“The great imitator” — a bacterial STI that progresses through primary, secondary, latent and tertiary stages, and can damage the heart, brain and nerves if untreated.
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
The most common STI. Low-risk types cause genital warts; high-risk types can lead to cervical, anal, penile and throat cancers. Vaccines are available.
Bacterial
Gardnerella
One of the most common causes of vaginal infection in women of childbearing age. Men usually carry it without symptoms.
Syndrome
Bacterial Vaginosis
An imbalance of the natural vaginal bacteria. Not an STD, but it raises the risk of getting STDs and of complications in pregnancy.
HIV
A lifelong virus that attacks the immune system’s CD4 cells and, without treatment, can progress to AIDS. Early symptoms are often mild or unnoticed.
Hepatitis B
A potentially life-threatening liver infection spread through blood and body fluids. It can become chronic without symptoms. A vaccine is available.
Hepatitis C
A liver infection spread mainly through blood. Most people develop a lifelong infection, and many don’t know they are infected.
Fungal
Candida
A yeast that causes genital yeast infections and fungal urinary tract infections when the vagina’s natural balance is disrupted.
Popular Panels
Comprehensive STI Panels
Our bundled panels give you broad coverage at better value. Speak with our team to choose the right panel for you.
Our most popular and best-value screen: chlamydia, gonorrhea, M. genitalium, trichomonas, gardnerella, ureaplasma (2 species) and HSV-1/2. J$17,500.
Our most comprehensive screen: eleven pathogens, with ureaplasma species and HSV-1/HSV-2 differentiated, plus Candida and Mycoplasma hominis.
Chlamydia, gonorrhea, Mycoplasma genitalium and trichomonas in one test — midway in coverage and cost. J$12,000.
Our simplest, lowest-cost screen for two common pathogens that are often found together. J$7,100.
Detects the 12 high-risk HPV types behind cervical cancer and measures viral load. Used alongside a Pap smear. J$11,700.
Detects herpes simplex 1 and 2 and tells them apart, from a urine sample or swab. J$7,100.
