Our Herpes I/II panel is a PCR test for the detection of Herpes Simples Virus I and II. This test unlike the STI-9 screen is able to differentiate between the two viruses and gives the physician a tool for either pathogen to be detected that may be the cause of the patient problems.

The test uses is a multiplex Real Time PCR technique which after extraction of the DNA of the pathogen enables more copies of it to be made in a reaction tube. The system will then tell you whether each of the two or in combination is present or absent based on whether DNA amplification occurs.

The test sample is a urine sample or an endocervical swab.

The turnaround time for this test is 3 – 5 business days. Turnaround times begins when samples get to our facility.
