Our QUAD Panel is a PCR test for the detection of four (4) pathogens. These are Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium and Trichomonas vaginalis . This test is more powerful that CT/NG alone and in particular adds detection of the Mycoplasma pathogen which can cause similar symptoms. What is important to note is that Mycoplasma Genitalium cannot be detected in regular culture. This screen falls midway in both power and cost in our series of detection panels and gives the physician a better screening tool for the pathogens that may be the cause of the patient problems.

The test uses is a multiplex Real Time PCR technique which after extraction of the DNA of the pathogen enables more copies of it to be made in a reaction tube. The system will then tell you whether each of the four or in combination is present or absent based on whether DNA amplification occurs.

The test sample is a urine sample or an endocervical swab.

The turnaround time for this test is 3 – 5 business days. Turnaround times begins when samples get to our facility.
