DNA PATERNITY TESTING (sometimes called parentage testing) uses DNA, the biological basis of inheritance, to prove or disprove the relationship between a child and an alleged father. It is based on the fact that we inherit half of our DNA from our father and half from our mother.

In a DNA paternity test, DNA samples are taken from the child, mother, and alleged father and sent to our lab. We purify the DNA and prepare it for testing with 16 DNA markers, producing a genetic profile for each tested individual. The child’s profile is compared with the profiles of the mother and alleged father to confirm that he/she has inherited DNA from the alleged father. We then perform statistical analysis to calculate the probability of paternity. Samples from the mother are recommended for all paternity tests. However tests may be accurately performed if the mother is not available for testing.

The Personal Paternity Test is designed for personal knowledge only. If you just want to know your paternity status and know there is no legal ramifications then this test is for you. Although all our test are confidential you may go a step further with this as you can keep your confidentiality intact as you do not have to use you correct names. The test is designed for you to take the samples yourself and at you convenience. This test cannot be used for any legal matter.

The collection kit contains all the necessary items for you to take a sample of yourself and the questioned parties. Each kit contains the following items.

DNA and its use In Relationship Testing
DNA testing is based on the fact that we inherit half of our DNA from our father and half from our mother. Y STR DNA is passed on by males only and is the same along the paternal line. Mitochondrial DNA is passed on by females only to all her children.
