How It Works
The Science of Lineage Testing
- Y-STR markers are short tandem repeats on the Y chromosome – passed unchanged from father to son, allowing ancestral tracing across many generations.
- Haplogroups are branches of the human family tree – specific Y-STR profiles that correspond to ancient population groups and migration routes.
- Database matching – your Y-STR profile can be compared against international databases to find populations with similar genetic signatures.
