A quantitative real-time PCR test that detects and differentiates three members of the herpes family: cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) and human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6).
Each causes its own symptoms and spreads in different ways, and all three stay in the body for life and can reactivate later.
