About Metapneumovirus A/B
Human metapneumoviruses (HMPV A and B) cause respiratory illness ranging from mild upper respiratory infections to severe bronchiolitis and pneumonia. HMPV is found worldwide and affects all ages, but has its greatest impact on children.
It spreads through contact with contaminated secretions or via droplets and aerosols, and hospital-acquired infections have been reported.
