Shigella

Molecular testing for Shigella — rapid, accurate detection.

About Shigella

Shigella bacteria cause shigellosis, one of the most contagious and severe forms of bacterial diarrhoea. There are several types: S. sonnei (group D) and S. flexneri (group B) cause most cases, while S. dysenteriae (group A) can cause deadly outbreaks.

No one is immune, but small children are infected at the highest rate, and people with HIV get shigellosis much more often.
