Bacterial — Intestinal Infection
About Campylobacter
Campylobacter are spiral-shaped bacteria — the name means “curved rod” — and one of the most common causes of diarrhoeal illness. Most human infections are caused by Campylobacter jejuni, usually as isolated cases rather than outbreaks.
Symptoms usually appear 2–5 days after eating contaminated food, but can take up to 10 days. Young children are among the most commonly affected.
