About Astrovirus
Astroviruses are second only to rotavirus as the most common cause of viral gastroenteritis in children worldwide. They mainly affect children under five, though adults and the elderly can also be infected.
People with poor nutrition, other infections or underlying bowel disease are more likely to develop complications, as are people with weakened immune systems.
